Gastroschisis Awareness Day 2018
Gastroschisis is becoming more and more common with 1/3000 babies being born with this defect a year in the UK, there is no recognition for this defect and we want to change that!
For those who don’t know what gastroschisis is, it’s where when a baby is forming something happens that causes a hole in the abdominal wall causing the bowels and other organs to be exposed.
This is not an easy fix. The repair of this can range from only two weeks in NICU to up to a year, some babies will not make it and some will go on to have bowel issues. Some babies don’t get any problems what so ever.
There is barely any research on gastroschisis, so this petition for it to become an official awareness Day may trigger researchers and people to support the fund raising and help with awareness over the UK!!
We hope to get plenty of shares and signatures to help us on our way to making Gastroschisis a more known defect!
